I bought this tent for a weekend camping trip after not having camped out in a very long time. After reading mixed reviews for many tents on amazon from horror stories to years of use and no problems I’d have to say that this tent was perfectly fine for my needs and how it performs is up to you and mother nature. Here’s what i factored when buying it and how it worked out for me:

-Setup: I haven’t set up a tent in god knows how long so I did a “dry run” in my backyard a day before I left. I did it by myself in about 25 min reading the instructions. I took my time and didn’t push the poles too hard since it’s going to be my home when camping. I was also gentle with the back vent pole since people have said it breaks so I kept that in mind. I did buy a plastic mallet which worked out very well but the spikes worked out fine both at home and at the camp ground.

-Size, layout etc: The thing i liked about this tent was how it looked. It’s a little different than a normal tent (I always have to be a little different). It feels private inside with no windows and you can look outside from the top vent. The size was fine for the 2 of us and we had about 1-2ft in all directions of free space not counting the vestibule area. The vestibule was very nice IMO since we could keep wet/ dirty things out there like shoes etc. The vents also seemed to let in air great which was a HUGE concern for me. We also set up under a tree which probably helped but I didn’t wake up in a pool of sweat or water so that was good. The mesh of the tent is also something to think about as there is ZERO privacy without the rain fly. It’s like a normal tent but all mesh with the red tarp rain fly on top of it.

-Height: I am 6ft tall and a young spry guy so getting in and out of the tent was no problem but it is more work than a normal tent since you have to duck/ crouch into the vestibule area before getting to the main entrance to the tent, but it also added to the sense of privacy of the tent.

-Rainfly: The rainfly was also a big selling point/concern for me since some people complained about leaking in some of the sewn parts. I personally had no leaks and didn’t seal the tent at all before using it, despite having it rain for 10+ hrs the one day with a complete downpour in the middle of the night.

-Packing- Like anything you buy that comes prepacked it’s near impossible to pack it back up again the same way unless you are some kind of packaging robot, which i am not. I did however do a pretty good job and got the rain fly and tent part in the same bag and just have the poles/spikes in the other bag they give you for them. I folded each part separately until it was about the length of the bag it came in and then rolled each of them as tightly as I could (like a sleeping bag). When I came home I also hosed off the tent and rain fly to try to get rid of smoke and dirt.

Final Thoughts: This tent worked out great for me since I knew what to expect from it. I used it in about 70-80 degree weather in humid upstate NY, I set up under a tree and was cool, even cold at night and fine during the day. The rain fly worked great and the tent did get rained on pretty good despite being under a tree. Nothing broke because i took care of it and was gentle/ thoughtful when using it. We camped with others but the design of the tent with the removable rain fly makes me want to sleep out on top of a hill with the rain fly off and relax under the stars with my lady.

Used this for the 1st time over the Mayday bank holiday weekend for motorcycle camping, it was very easy to put up and took less than ten minutes from taking out of the bag to having camp bed and sleeping bag in.
It is very spacious (the foot print is around 1.8m x 2.5m approximately)with decent head room (about 1.5 m at its highest point) and ideal for 2.
The porch is just about big enough for 2 crash helmets
    ,boots and a backpack .
It was quick and easy to dismantle and packs up small enough to strap to the bike .
All in all very impressed with this tent and would highly recommend for weekend camping,2 season motorcycle touring and festivals.

just returned from week in the back country. 4 people (two full sized adults, two kids). Plenty of space. Not too heavy given the size. Rain fly worked really well and has full coverage.. Easy set up. Good vestibule and easy entrance from large zippered area. Good poles, lots of pegs. The vent system was a little confusing at first, but once understood it was great – holds a space open to vent the air and keep at a reasonable temp. The floor is made of tarp material. That’s great for now – totally dry even during 3 monster rain storms. Wonder how that will hold up long term, but this was great.

Likes: tent rolls up small, easy to set up (only one sectional long pole), bath tub floor, ☑️small vestibule for foot ware, tent long enough for a 6footer, zippered window in the fly aligns with zippered mesh (see some stars), door in the middle(helpful if you want to change ends) ,taped fly seams, cool colour ,good price

Dislikes: only teenagers would consider this a two person tent. The guy ropes are the only thing holding it up. Unlike a pup tent: this tent tapers down at both ends-don’t know if a cot would work.

Conclusion : If your motorcycle camping (I was) and it rains for 12 hours (it did) unless your Houdini, you will eventually have to go out in the weather to suit up. I can’t say how water proof the fly is because I waterproofed it before my trip. Tent did not leak . I camped seven times without any issues.

We have used these tents for Boy Scouts for more than a decade. They obviously haven’t all withstood the brutal assualt of prebuescent boys who like to lose poles, break poles, setup up tents in low spots etc. But they lasted longer and were more weather resistant than what you can find around the $100 mark. We just bought more for the troop this last summer at a steel at around $85/tent. they are a challenge to setup by yourself and the boys take a little training to have a frim understanding on how to set them up but really once they figured it out they have done pretty well and have even set them up in the dark.
    Pros:
-They are very durable (if used gently and actually last quite a while if abused)
-The Vestibule under the rainfly allows for realitivly easy access
-The rain fly goes clear to the ground which helps prevent the wetness in the Pacific Northwest
-For scouts it gives the older boys something to do to train the younger scouts on (kinda the point of scouts)
-Coleman has repair kits that you can buy if the poles break (and with scouts poles many times will get brokent)
-The tub of the tent is very resistant to water intrusion. We has a group of scouts that set their tent up in a low spot and with rain the low spot filled and actually floated the bottom of the tent. I think the main seam leaked a little but we were able to save thier gear and move thier tent to higher ground without wet sleeping bags and clothes.
-The dome main body is super simple to setup (think normal dome tent)
-There is ample space for 4 youths + gear although the scouts prefer 3 scouts per tent.

    Cons
-They are heavy not for backcountry camping
-They are a pain to setup if you have never done it. Having two people setup is almost required.
-The scouts tend to try to push the poles through the pole pockets at the top of the dome where they cross. We have had many a tent with the pole pocket torn.
-like most tents and tent bags these take a seasoned scout to get them rolled up and back in the coleman bag.
-Coleman bag is pretty weak. Zippers don’t take much abuse, seems tend to blow out etc. Do yourself a favor if you plan on using it a bunch go get a larger bag for it. We make canvas bags for the scouts mostly so that I don’t end up having to re-roll every tent.
